Radiohead, A Jazz Symphony is een wereldwijde publiekstrekker. Het project werd ontwikkeld in Groningen en groeide uit tot een internationaal succesvol album. Nu keert deze indrukwekkende herinterpretatie van Radioheads muziek, gearrangeerd voor jazzsolisten en orkest, terug naar het Noorden.
In dit programma werken twee toonaangevende orkesten uit de regio samen: het Noord Nederlands Orkest en het Noordpool Orkest. Samen laten ze nieuwe lagen horen in iconische songs als Creep, Karma Police en Paranoid Android.
De symfonische kracht van het NNO ontmoet de jazz- en rockwortels van het Noordpool Orkest. Het resultaat is geen traditioneel concert, maar een programma waarin bekende songs een nieuw en gelaagd karakter krijgen. Radiohead, A Jazz Symphony ging in 2012 in première en werd meteen een groot succes. De muziek werd oorspronkelijk geschreven voor het Noordpool Orkest door oprichter en artistiek leider Reinout Douma, die ook deze uitvoering dirigeert. Op het programma staan verschillende bekende nummers van de Britse band. Daarnaast klinken twee extra Radiohead/Thom Yorke-tracks: The Eraser, een minimalistisch meesterwerk, en Spectre.

Radiohead, A Jazz Symphony is a worldwide audience magnet. The project was developed in Groningen and grew into an internationally successful album. Now this impressive reinterpretation of Radiohead’s music, arranged for jazz soloists and orchestra, returns to the North.
In this programme two leading orchestras from the region work together: the North Netherlands Orchestra and the Noordpool Orchestra. Together they reveal new layers in iconic pieces such as Creep, Karma Police and Paranoid Android.
The symphonic power of the NNO meets the jazz and rock roots of the Noordpool Orchestra. The result is not a traditional concert, but a programme in which well-known pieces gain a new and layered character. Radiohead, A Jazz Symphony premiered in 2012 and immediately became a great success. The music was originally written for the Noordpool Orchestra by founder and artistic director Reinout Douma, who also conducts this performance. The programme features several well-known tracks by the British band. In addition, two extra Radiohead/Thom Yorke pieces are performed: The Eraser, a minimalist masterpiece, and Spectre.
