Erik Bosgraaf wordt algemeen beschouwd als een van ’s werelds beste en avontuurlijkste blokfluitisten, bekroond met onder andere de Londense Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award en de Nederlandse Muziekprijs. In 2006 richtte hij met gitarist Izhar Elias en klavecinist Alessandro Pianu ensemble Cordevento op. Het doel was duidelijk: de vaak virtuoze muziek van de 17e eeuw nieuw leven inblazen. De uit het noorden afkomstige Bosgraaf ziet oude muziek niet als een museumstuk, maar als iets levends. Het zijn stukken die ruimte laten voor vrijheid en improvisatie, een van zijn grootste krachten.
Het programma tijdens dit concert draait om 17e-eeuwse (dans)muziek uit Italië, Spanje en de Lage Landen. Muziek uit een tijd waarin de grenzen nog niet vastlagen en improvisatie essentieel was. Je hoort geen kant-en-klare meesterwerken, maar muziek in beweging: flexibel en speels, soms ingetogen, dan weer uitbundig. Muziek die Bosgraaf met zijn ensemble als geen ander tot leven weet te wekken.

Erik Bosgraaf is widely regarded as one of the world’s best and most adventurous recorder players, having been awarded prizes including the London Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award and the Dutch Music Prize. In 2006, he founded the ensemble Cordevento with guitarist Izhar Elias and harpsichordist Alessandro Pianu. The goal was clear: to breathe new life into the often virtuosic music of the 17th century. Hailing from the north, Bosgraaf views early music not as a museum piece, but as something alive. These are pieces that leave room for freedom and improvisation, one of his greatest strengths.
The program for this concert revolves around 17th-century (dance) music from Italy, Spain, and the Low Countries. Music from a time when boundaries were not yet fixed and improvisation was essential. You will not hear ready-made masterpieces, but music in motion: flexible and playful, sometimes restrained, then again exuberant. Music that Bosgraaf and his ensemble know how to bring to life like no other.
