Elles Bailey
A lived-in blend of blues, soul and Americana
Met haar nieuwe album ‘Can’t Take My Story Away’ komt ze komend voorjaar naar De Oosterpoort.
Elles Bailey has a voice with so much grit you can almost taste it. The British singer-songwriter blends blues, soul and Americana into lived-in songs about resilience and starting over. Next spring she brings her new album ‘Can’t Take My Story Away’ to De Oosterpoort.
In 2024 she was named Live Act of the Year at the UK Americana Awards and Vocalist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards. She has also opened for Van Morrison, Jools Holland and Rag’n’Bone Man. She spent three years on the new record with producer Luke Potashnick (Paloma Faith, Katie Melua), and Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, Laura Marling) also plays on it. The album runs from the Motown horns of ‘Angel’ to the restrained strings of ‘Blessed’, and that raw, Janis Joplin-like voice carries all of it. A glass of whiskey on the side would suit it nicely.
