Met het macabere en humoristische Till Death Do Us Part (or Not) verpakken Amsterdam Sinfonietta en ISH Dance Collective thema’s als macht, wraak en medische ethiek in spetterende strijkersmuziek, hiphop en acrobatische dans.
Stella lijkt voor John de perfecte echtgenote, ze is zorgzaam, geduldig, plichtsgetrouw. In werkelijkheid ondergaat ze lijdzaam het koele en dominante gedrag van haar man. In het verstikkende huwelijk is ze langzaam uitgewist en zijn haar persoonlijke vrijheden en affectie haar ontnomen. Als haar terminaal zieke man instemt met een medisch experiment waarbij hij kunstmatig in leven wordt gehouden, kantelt de verhouding en ziet Stella haar kans schoon om haar vrijheid terug te winnen. In de macabere en humoristische voorstelling Till Death Do Us Part (or Not) komen thema’s als machtsverhoudingen, wraak, medische ethiek tot uiting in explosieve strijkersmuziek, hiphop en acrobatische dans.

To John, Stella seems like the perfect wife: caring, patient and dutiful. In reality, she quietly endures her husband’s cold and controlling behaviour. Trapped in a suffocating marriage, she has gradually been erased, stripped of her personal freedom and affection. When her terminally ill husband agrees to take part in a medical experiment that keeps him artificially alive, the balance of power shifts and Stella sees an opportunity to reclaim her freedom. In the macabre and humorous performance Till Death Do Us Part (or Not), themes such as power dynamics, revenge and medical ethics come to life through explosive string music, hip-hop and acrobatic dance.
