Het macabere en humoristische Till Death Do Us Part (or Not) is gebaseerd op Roald Dahls korte verhaal Mary en William. Amsterdam Sinfonietta en ISH Dance Collective verpakken thema’s als macht, wraak en medische ethiek in spetterende strijkersmuziek, hiphop en acrobatische dans.
Mary Pearl lijkt op het eerste gezicht een onderdanige, plichtsgetrouwe echtgenote die het koele en autoritaire gedrag van haar man William lijdzaam ondergaat. Maar alles wordt anders als de terminaal zieke William instemt met een medisch experiment waarbij na zijn dood zijn hersenen en een oog kunstmatig in leven worden gehouden. Mary grijpt niet alleen de kans om haar vrijheid terug te winnen, ze neemt ook keihard wraak voor al die jaren dat William haar het leven zuur maakte. En William? Die moet eeuwig toekijken hoe Mary haar nieuwe vrijheid viert.

The macabre and humorous Till Death Do Us Part (or Not) is based on Roald Dahl’s short story Mary and William. Amsterdam Sinfonietta and ISH Dance Collective wrap themes such as power, revenge, and medical ethics in dazzling string music, hip-hop, and acrobatic dance.
At first glance, Mary Pearl appears to be a submissive, dutiful wife who passively endures her husband William’s cold and authoritarian behavior. But everything changes when the terminally ill William agrees to a medical experiment in which his brain and one eye are kept artificially alive after his death. Mary not only seizes the opportunity to regain her freedom, but she also takes ruthless revenge for all the years William made her life miserable. And William? He must watch forever as Mary celebrates her newfound freedom.
