Fright Years is een vierkoppige indierockband uit Edinburgh. Hun sound combineert indierock, 90s alternative rock en powerpop met kwetsbare teksten, grootse refreinen en filmische soundscapes. Wat begon met akoestische slaapkamerdemo’s groeide uit tot een band met een uitgesproken eigen geluid.
De nummers van Fright Years beginnen vaak klein, rond piano of akoestische gitaar, en bouwen op naar meeslepende gitaarmuren en synthesizers met invloeden uit de jaren 80 en 90. De krachtige stem van zangeres Jules Kelly beweegt daarbij moeiteloos tussen operatieve controle en rauwe emotie. Hun sound doet denken aan Florence + The Machine, Wolf Alice, The Cranberries en CHVRCHES.
Fright Years is a four-piece indie rock band from Edinburgh. Their sound combines indie rock, 90s alternative rock and power pop with vulnerable lyrics, big choruses and cinematic soundscapes. What started as acoustic bedroom demos grew into a band with a distinctive sound of their own.
Fright Years’ songs often start small, built around piano or acoustic guitar, before developing into immersive walls of guitar and synthesizers influenced by the 80s and 90s. Singer Jules Kelly’s powerful voice effortlessly moves between operatic control and raw emotion. Their sound is reminiscent of Florence + The Machine, Wolf Alice, The Cranberries and CHVRCHES.
