Sahand Sahebdivani, een van de meest gedreven storytellers van Nederland, komt naar Groningen met Het Verre Woord. Deze vertelvoorstelling ging vorig jaar in première op Oerol en kreeg een warm onthaal.
Verhalen vertellen
Verhalen sterven niet. Zelfs wanneer de verteller stil valt leven ze in ons voort, als echo’s die blijven galmen tussen de hoge bergen. Wanneer een vader ze niet meer vertelt moet de zoon het doen. Sahand Sahebdivani is de zoon van een Iraanse revolutionair en blaast leven in zijn oude verhalen van verzet en vlucht. Verhalen die door de recente gebeurtenissen in Iran – helaas – weer zeer relevant zijn.

Sahand Sahebdivani, the most famous storyteller in the Netherlands, is coming to Groningen with Het Verre Woord. This storytelling performance premiered last year at Oerol and was warmly received.
Telling Stories
Stories never die. Even when the storyteller falls silent, they live on in us, like echoes that continue to reverberate between the high mountains. When a father stops telling them, the son must do it. Sahand Sahebdivani is the son of an Iranian revolutionary and breathes life into his old stories of resistance and flight. Stories that are – unfortunately – very relevant again due to recent events in Iran.
Sahand Sahebdivani
Sahand Sahebdivani is the co-director of the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival and the most renowned storyteller in the Netherlands. He performs on many national and international stages with solo shows, performances created with Raphael Rodan, and in larger ensembles. In 2004, he founded Mezrab, which has since grown into one of the most important storytelling cafés in the world. Sahand arrived in the Netherlands as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq war at the age of three. The experiences of him and his family form the basis of most of his work.
