De singer-songwriter Parker Millsap is recht voor zijn raap, aansprekend en zonder een centje te overdrijven 100 procent gedreven. Hij benut zijn godsdienstige opvoeding ten volle in zijn muziek. Wat hij heeft opgestoken in zijn kerkjaren verwerkt Millsap inventief en uitdagend in zijn teksten.
Artist of the Year
Onlangs won Parker tijdens zijn tv-debuut bij CONAN de International Folk Music Award Artist Of The Year. Tijdens dit tv-debuut kreeg hij de uitnodiging om samen met Elton John te spelen. Ook was Millsap genomineerd voor Americana Music Association Album of the Year.
I want to pay the bills
De zanger blijft zelf redelijk nuchter onder alle lovende reacties: “I just want to pay the bills and feed my dog, and maybe buy a new guitar every now and then. That’s all I need. I don’t want to be Elvis Presley, but I wouldn’t complain if a million girls screamed for me, either. Just don’t tell my girlfriend that.”
Daarnaast zegt hij ervan te houden om onrealistische doelen voor zichzelf te stellen. Op die manier heeft hij altijd iets om naar te streven, een beter nummer, verschillende personages en nieuwe verhalen.

Op 4 mei aanstaande zal Parker Millsap zijn nieuwe album Other Arrangements uitbrengen. Zijn laatste album The Very Last Day werd lovend ontvangen door The New York Times, The Boston Globe, LA Times, Austin Chronicle en Rolling Stone.
De Amerikaanse singer-songwriter is klaar om zijn Oklahoma roots te delen met de rest van het land en de wereld!

Mitch Rivers (27) schrijft soulvolle folk & americana liedjes, gekenmerkt door zijn vertederende stemgeluid. Onder al die pastorale pracht sluimert echter een hongerige, rusteloze ziel. Zijn komende plaat mijmert tussen het vluchtige stadsleven en de open, uitgestrekte vlaktes.
De in Haarlem wonende muzikant speelde ooit in punkbands, maar raakte steeds verder in de ban van artiesten als Otis Rush, Jonathan Wilson en Patrick Watson. Zijn muziek sijpelt uit de poriën van de ziel: naakt, goudeerlijk, sexy en kwetsbaar. De blues blijft als waakzame schim hangen binnen de onberispelijke arrangementen van Rivers en zijn band.

When he was only 24 Oklahoma-born Parker Millsap made a name with his stirring live performances, soulful sound, and personal stories. The American’s combination of blues, country, folk, and raw vocals remind of a young Bruce Springsteen.

Singer-songwriter Parker Millsap is straightforward, appealing, and, without overdoing it, 100-percent driven. He utilises his religious education to the full in his music. Everything he picked up during his years in church, Millsap incorporates in his lyrics inventively and provocatively.
Artist of the Year
Recently Parker was awarded with the International Folk Music Award Artist of the Year during his TV debut with CONAN. During this TV debut he was invited to play together with Elton John. Millsap was also nominated for Americana Music Association Album of the Year.

The singer remains fairly matter-of-fact despite all the praise: “I just want to pay the bills and feed my dog, and maybe buy a new guitar every now and then. That’s all I need. He also says he likes to set unrealistic goals for himself. In that way, there is always something to strive for: a better song, different characters, and new stories.
