The Choir of The King’s Consort is een van de meest geliefde Engelse ensembles en onderdeel van het in 1980 door dirigent Robert King opgerichte en internationaal geroemde The King’s Consort. Tijdens dit concert brengt het koor een heerlijk programma met vocale meesterwerken van de beste Britse romantici uit de 19e en 20e eeuw. Veel van de stukken zijn afkomstig van het in 2016 verschenen album Voice from Heaven – British Choral Masterpieces, waarop de luisteraar wordt meegevoerd in een wereld van spirituele schoonheid.
Van het dromerige I Heard a Voice From Heaven van Herbert Howells naar de rijke harmonieën van Faire is the Heaven, waarin William Harris de schoonheid van de hemel verklankt. Van Benjamin Brittens mysterieuze A Hymn to St. Cecilia – dat niet op genoemde cd staat – via Drop, Drop, Slow Tears, een bewerking van een oude Engelse hymne van de Thomas Hewitt Jones naar Howells’ Take Him, Earth, For Cherishing, geschreven ter nagedachtenis aan de in 1963 vermoorde president John F. Kennedy. Tijdloze en ontroerende muziek, magistraal uitgevoerd door The Choir of The King’s Consort.

The Choir of The King’s Consort is one of the most beloved English ensembles and part of the internationally acclaimed The King’s Consort founded in 1980 by conductor Robert King. In this concert, the choir will present a delightful program of vocal masterpieces by the best British Romantics of the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of the pieces are from the 2016 album Voice from Heaven – British Choral Masterpieces, on which the listener is transported into a world of spiritual beauty.
From the dreamy I Heard a Voice From Heaven by Herbert Howells to the rich harmonies of Faire is the Heaven, in which William Harris voices the beauty of heaven. From Benjamin Britten’s mysterious A Hymn to St. Cecilia – which is not on said CD – through Drop, Drop, Slow Tears, an arrangement of an old English hymn by the Thomas Hewitt Jones to Howells’ Take Him, Earth, For Cherishing, written in memory of President John F. Kennedy, assassinated in 1963. Timeless and moving music, performed magisterially by The Choir of The King’s Consort.
