TakeRoot presents: timeless country with a quirky twist
Cactus Lee brengt de warme klanken van Texas naar Groningen! Op 3 april staat het muzikale project van singer-songwriter Kevin Dehan uit Austin met zijn band in het A-Theater.
Sinds 2019 maakt Dehan muziek die teruggrijpt op de klassieke country van de jaren zestig, maar met een geheel eigen geluid. Wat begon als een soloproject groeide uit tot een band die inmiddels ook ver buiten Texas optreedt.
Zijn nieuwe album Lee’s Dream ontstond tijdens een tour door de Verenigde Staten. Onderweg schreef Dehan persoonlijke liedjes over familie, tegenslagen en het leven op de weg. Samen met producer Billy Horton gaf hij deze verhalen vorm in warme, melodieuze countrynummers waarin melancholie en lichtvoetigheid elkaar afwisselen. Het resultaat is een authentiek stukje Austin, met een eigenzinnige twist.

Cactus Lee brings the warm sounds of Texas to Groningen! On April 3, singer-songwriter Kevin Dehan from Austin will take the stage at the A-Theater with his band.
Since 2019, Dehan has been making music that draws on the classic country sounds of the 1960s, while developing a distinctive style of his own. What started as a solo project has grown into a band that now performs well beyond Texas.
His new album Lee’s Dream took shape during a tour across the United States. Along the way, Dehan wrote personal songs about family, setbacks and life on the road. Together with producer Billy Horton, he turned these stories into warm, melodic country tunes that alternate between melancholy and lightheartedness. The result is an authentic slice of Austin, with a quirky twist.
