INdependent 24
Tweeluik over menselijkheid, liefde en schoonheid
Two-part work on humanity, love, and beauty

Experience the power of Dutch-Ukrainian collaboration in INdependent 24, a two-part production exploring humanity, love, and beauty. Choreographers Richèl Wieles and Dmytro Borodai bring to life the stories of ten individuals living in contemporary The Hague, illustrating the vital importance of compassion during challenging times.
In Emotions, created by choreographer and dancer Dmytro Borodai, the audience encounters the confronting story of Andriy Siromakha—a Ukrainian veteran who lost an arm and a leg in an explosion. Set to powerful music, the piece draws the audience into his personal experiences and emotions. What makes this work unique is that Andriy himself participates in the choreography, gaining the space to share his story directly with the audience.
The second piece, de/het/één (the/the/one), by choreographer Richèl Wieles, focuses on the experiences of ten Ukrainian dancers who fled to the Netherlands. Through their narratives, the ballet reveals their perspective on life in the Netherlands today—ranging from everyday impressions to deeply personal accounts that resonate with everyone. This more classically-oriented work features original music composed by a Ukrainian artist, interwoven with audio excerpts from interviews.
