De dagen worden steeds korter, de kaarsen gaan aan en een van ‘s werelds allerbeste koren komt naar Groningen om ons voor te bereiden op Kerstmis.
Samen met hun op authentieke instrumenten spelende stadgenoten van de Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin trakteert het RIAS Kammerchor u op een aantal van de mooiste cantates die Bach schreef in de aanloop naar de viering van de geboorte van Jezus Christus.
Advent
Voor de eerste zondag van de Advent schreef hij het prachtige Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland. Met een statige ouverture leidt Bach ons de kerk binnen waarna het feest kan beginnen. Jubelende trompetten, juichende koren, vriendelijke hobo’s, ronkende bassen, uitgelaten strijkers: alles trok hij uit de kast.

Voor wie het ultieme kerstgevoel al op 8 december wil voelen en natuurlijk voor alle liefhebbers van koormuziek op het allerhoogste niveau is dit concert een absolute must.

Bach’s Advent and Christmas cantatas
The days get shorter, the candles are lit, and one of the best choirs in the world is coming to Groningen to prepare us for Christmas. Together with their fellow townsmen of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin playing their authentic instruments, the RIAS Kammerchor treats you to a number of the most-beautiful cantatas Bach wrote in the run-up to the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For the first Advent Sunday, he wrote the wonderful Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland. Bach leads us into church with a majestic overture, after which the party is about to start. Jubilant trumpeting, cheering choirs, friendly hobos, roaring basses, exuberant strings: he pulled out all the stops. For those who want to experience the ultimate Christmas feeling on 8 December already and of course for aficionados of choir music of the highest level, this concert is an absolute must.
