Bravour rockers ontstijgen met nieuw album de status local hero

Als je eenmaal het stempel Local Hero hebt verdiend, kom je er vrijwel nooit meer vanaf. En dat ondanks dat je die status inmiddels echt wel ontstegen bent en de term national hero misschien wel beter staat… Wat maakt het ook uit, wat er echt toe doet is dat bravour rockers met een duidelijk zeroes-rock signature terug zijn met een gloednieuw album waarmee ze de samenwerking opzochten met JB Meijers (o.a. Common Linnets) die ook voor de productie van de plaat tekende. Het lijkt wel alsof JB de lont in het kruitvat heeft geworpen, want Shine On, zoals het paradepaardje van Orange Skyline heet lijkt de big bang die de band blijkbaar nodig had.
Single A Fire werd waanzinnig goed opgepikt en gebruikt als anthem bij het schaatsen tijdens verslaggeving van de Olympische Spelen en NPO Radio 2 doopte het om tot Topsong.
Zanger Stefan vat de tot standkoming van het nieuwe werk mooi samen: ‘je gaat in 2020 werkloos de lockdown in, wordt getekend door Sony Music en komt er in 2021 met een geweldige nieuwe plaat uit’. Broer Stefan noemt het ‘de plaat waar we ons hele leven naartoe hebben gewerkt’. Shine On is dynamisch, opwindend en onontkoombaar verslavend. En die plaat kunnen ze in april eindelijk presenteren en dat doen ze natuurlijk in hun eigen Groningen. Tot in De Oosterpoort mannen, welkom thuis!

Sometimes a musician has his first big break in a country that is not his own. New-York singer-songwriter Brian Dunne is a case in point. Dunne has been diligently honing his craft in his home country for many years, crisscrossing the country to perform hundreds of shows, and recording well-received albums such as Songs of the Hives (2015), Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements (2017) and Selling Things (2020).
But, while a big American breakthrough is still yet to come, Dunne has been making a name for himself here, in The Netherlands, thanks in large part to Dutch singer-songwriter Danny Vera (Roller Coaster) who started playing Dunne’s 2018 single New Tattoo on his Dutch radio show Vera’s Vintage Vibes in 2021. Dunne is also the very first artist to sign up with Vera’s brand new record label, PMD Records, which is set to release a compilation album of Dunne’s previous work.
This March, Dunne will be joining us at the Lutherse Kerk, the perfect place to get further acquainted with his wondrous blend of folk, rock and country.
