It is an album about renewal, reconciliation, getting even and compassion, but above all about healing. These are recurring themes during Etheridge’s career and they have stimulated her life as an activist for among others human rights, LGBTI rights, breast cancer awareness. The tracks on The Medicine Show are inspired by moments of kindness, love, persistence and bravery. Every song on the album tackles a social theme, whether it is the opium epidemic and shootings in schools in America, or people getting together to help others.
