De veelzijdige en sympathieke gitarist Mark Lettieri is expert op bijna elk genre van populaire muziek dat er is. Als lead gitarist bij Snarky Puppy is hij een van de drijvende krachten achter het succes van de groep. Naast zijn funkjazz-begeleiding en rocksolo’s levert hij ook composities en arrangementen, waarmee hij inmiddels vijf Grammy’s in de wacht heeft gesleept. Met onder andere basgitarist Wes Stephenson en drummer Jason ‘JT’ Thomas, die ook te horen zijn op de zes soloalbums van Lettieri, komt hij naar De Oosterpoort.
De veelzijdigheid van de gitarist laat zich vooral zien in zijn samenwerkingen. Als sessiemuzikant speelde hij met grote namen als David Crosby, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin en Pat Boone. Mark Lettieri weet de ene na de andere funky riff uit zijn gitaar te toveren, waarbij de invloeden van 70’s en 80’s iconen James Brown, Rufus en Chaka Khan duidelijk hoorbaar zijn. Met zijn nieuwste album Can I Tell You Something op zak is hij terug met een nieuwe tour.

The versatile and likable guitarist, Mark Lettieri, is an expert in almost every genre of popular music. As the lead guitarist for Snarky Puppy, he is one of the driving forces behind the group’s success. In addition to his funk-jazz accompaniment and rock solos, he also contributes compositions and arrangements. Alongside bassist Wes Stephenson and drummer Jason ‘JT’ Thomas, who are also featured on Lettieri’s six solo albums, he is now back with his own group.
The guitarist’s versatility is especially evident in his collaborations. As a session musician, he has played with big names such as David Crosby, 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin, and Pat Boone. On Mark Lettieri’s recent albums, Deep: The Baritone Sessions Vol. 1 and 2, he continues to craft one funky riff after another, drawing influences from 70s and 80s icons like James Brown, Rufus, and Chaka Khan. Through tours with Snarky Puppy, fans of instrumental guitar music have also developed a growing appreciation for Mark’s own work.
