‘Call Me God’ is een theatraal en muzikaal spektakel, waarin de wereldberoemde Amerikaanse acteur John Malkovich vertelt over de laatste uren van dictators als Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin en Saddam Hussein. Vlak voor hun overgave of dood geven zij een afscheidsspeech. Vergezeld door organist Martin Haselböck – die het indrukwekkende orgel in de grote zaal van De Oosterpoort bespeelt – onthult Malkovich het ware gezicht van een man die anderen laat denken dat hij God is. Met muziek van onder meer J.S. Bach, Franck, Messiaen en Ligeti.

‘Call Me God’ is a theatrical and musical spectacle, in which the world-famous American actor John Malkovich tells about the final hours of dictators as Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin and Saddam Hussein. Just before they surrender or die they give a farewell speech. Accompanied by organist Martin Haselböck – who plays the impressive organ in De Oosterpoort’s main auditorium – Malkovich throws of the mask of a man who likes others to believe he is God. With music from amongst others J.S. Bach, Franck, Messiaen and Ligeti.
