In oktober 2017 vond in Utrecht – na selectierondes in New York, Utrecht, Moskou en Tokio – de 11e editie van het driejaarlijkse Internationaal Franz Liszt Pianoconcours plaats, een van de meest prestigieuze muziekconcoursen ter wereld. De Brit Alexander Ullman werd door de vakjury uitgeroepen tot winnaar, voor de uit Rusland afkomstige publieksfavoriet Dina Ivanova en de Zuid-Koreaan Minsoo Hong. Ullman treedt met zijn overwinning in de voetsporen van grote namen als Enrico Pace, Wibi Soerjadi, Igor Roma en Nino Gvetadze. Maar ook de andere twee finalisten staan vrijwel zeker op de drempel van een grootse carrière. Tijdens dit concert laten zij u horen wat zij allemaal in huis hebben en natuurlijk vormt de prachtige pianomuziek van Liszt daarbij een voornaam aandeel.

The stars of the future
In October 2017, after selection rounds in New York, Utrecht, Moscow and Tokyo, the 11th edition of the International Liszt Piano Competition took place in Utrecht, one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world that is held once every three years. Alexander Ullman from Great Britain was named the winner by the jury, and Dina Ivanova from Russia and Minsoo Hong from South Korea were named audience favourites. With this victory, Ullman follows in the steps of big names such as Enrico Pace, Wibi Soerjadi, Igor Roma and Nino Gvetadze. But the other two finalists are certainly on the brink of impressive careers themselves. During the concert, they’ll demonstrate what they’re capable of, and of course Liszt’s wonderful piano music will play an important part.
