Haydn, Mendelssohn en Rachmaninov
Het Busch Trio – vernoemd naar de legendarische violist Adolf Busch – heeft zich in amper tien jaar tijd ontwikkeld tot een pianotrio waar de liefhebbers hun vingers bij aflikken. Luister naar hun prachtige cd’s en je hoort direct hoe de klasse ervan afspat. Tijdens dit concert spelen ze muziek van Haydn, Mendelssohn en Rachmaninov.
Het Busch Trio is de vrucht van een jarenlange vriendschap. Mathieu van Bellen (viool) ontmoette de broers Ori (cello) en Omri Epstein (piano) in Londen tijdens hun studie aan het Royal College en waren al snel onafscheidelijk. Naast af en toe een partijtje voetbal draaide alles in hun leven om muziek. Als ze niet zelf speelden, spraken de drie tot diep in de nacht over muziek of luisterden ze naar oude opnames. In 2012 kreeg die gezamenlijke passie vorm in een ensemble dat in mum van tijd de internationale top bereikte.
Een duik in het oeuvre van Haydn, Mendelssohn en Rachmaninov
Tijdens dit concert duikt het Busch Trio eerst in Haydns waanzinnig grote oeuvre, dat naast 104 symfonieën, 68 strijkkwartetten, 80 klaviersonates, 13 missen, 24 opera’s, 2 oratoria, een Stabat Mater en een lijdensverhaal ook nog ruim 40 pianotrio’s bevat. Keuze genoeg dus. Daarna hoor je Mendelssohns Pianotrio nr. 1, een van de absolute hoogtepunten uit de romantische kamermuziek én met een weergaloze hoofdrol voor de piano. Het slot is voor Rachmaninovs meeslepende Trio Élégiaque nr. 2, geschreven naar aanleiding van het overlijden van Tsjaikovski.

In less than ten years The Busch Trio – named after the legendary violinist Adolf Busch – has turned itself into something quite delectable. Only listen to their beautiful CDs and you’re immediately aware that you are dealing with a class-act. This concert, the trio will play music by Haydn, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov.
The Busch Trio is the result of a long-standing friendship. Mathieu van Bellen (violin) met the brothers Ori (cello) and Omri Epstein (piano) in London while studying at the Royal College. They soon became inseparable. Besides the occasional game of football, everything in their lives revolved around music. When they weren’t playing themselves, the three would talk about music or listen to old recordings until the early hours. In 2012, they poured this shared passion into a musical ensemble with which they quickly rose to international fame.
A deep-dive into the works of Haydn, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov
During this concert, the Busch Trio first dives into Haydn’s sprawling oeuvre, which, in addition to 104 symphonies, 68 string quartets, 80 clavier sonatas, 13 masses, 24 operas, 2 oratorios, a Stabat Mater and a Passion, also contains more than 40 piano trios. So the trio will be spoilt for choice. Next, there will be Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1, one of the absolute highlights of romantic chamber music with a magnificent leading role for piano. As a finale, you will hear Rachmaninov’s compelling Trio Élégiaque no. 2, composed on the event of Tchaikovsky’s death.
