The King’s Singers en VOCES8 zijn twee van ’s werelds allerbeste a capellaensembles. Als die samen het podium opgaan, wacht je op z’n zachts gezegd een bijzondere avond. De hedendaagse a-capellawereld zou niet hetzelfde zijn zonder deze twee Britse topensembles. In 2024 gaven ze hun eerste gezamenlijke concert in de Londense Royal Albert Hall, die met vijfduizend zitplaatsen volledig was uitverkocht. Het werd een legendarisch BBC Proms concert. “A choral supergroup is born”, schreef The Times de volgende dag. Reden te meer om The King’s Singers en VOCES8 te herenigen voor een eenmalige tournee van vijf concerten in België en Nederland, die op zaterdag 28 maart ook Groningen aandoet.
In het programma STARS hoor je tijdloze klassieke werken en verbluffende hedendaagse bewerkingen, waarmee beide ensembles het volledige spectrum van koorzang op het allerhoogste niveau bestrijken. Van historische, zestiende-eeuwse meesterwerken van Palestrina, via nieuwe arrangementen zoals The Second Star to the Right uit de Disney-film Peter Pan tot folkzangeres Kate Rusby’s Underneath the Stars en nog véél meer. Elke groep brengt zijn eigen unieke geluid om muzikale magie te creëren. Of je nu een levenslange fan bent van koormuziek of nieuw in het genre: dit concert wil je eigenlijk niet missen!

The King’s Singers and VOCES8 are two of the world’s very best a cappella ensembles. When these take the stage together, an extraordinary evening awaits, to say the least. In 2024, the two top British choirs gave their first joint concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which was completely sold out with five thousand seats. It became a legendary BBC Proms concert. “A choral supergroup is born,” wrote The Times the next day. All the more reason to reunite The King’s Singers and VOCES8 for a one-time tour of five concerts in Belgium and the Netherlands, which will also visit Groningen on Saturday, March 28.
In the program STARS you will hear timeless classical works and stunning contemporary adaptations, with which both ensembles cover the full spectrum of choral singing at the very highest level. From historic, sixteenth-century masterpieces by Palestrina, through new arrangements such as The Second Star to the Right from the Disney film Peter Pan to folk singer Kate Rusby’s Underneath the Stars and much more. Each group brings its own unique sound to create musical magic. Whether you are a lifelong fan of choral music or new to the genre, you really don’t want to miss this concert!
