Other Lives is an American indie and folk band, founded in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The band immediately gained public attention when their single was used for the television series Grey’s Anatomy. By now the band has built up an impressive amount of music loving fans all over the world. Radiohead and Bon Iver have stated that they’re fans of the band.
Even though earlier work of Other Lives often got the label ‘folk’ because of their use of acoustic instruments, the band has taken a step away from that with their latest release. ‘Rituals’ (2015) is a thoughtful and beautiful album to listen to and the band wrote more than 60 songs for it. The album was very well-received by music blogs. Voorprogramma: Black Oak
Black Oak is de band gevormd rondom de singer-songwriters Geert van der Velde (The Black Atlantic) en Thijs Kuijken (I am Oak). Beide songwriters waren al lang fan van elkaars bands. In 2014 gingen beide songwriters met elkaar aan de slag gingen om samen muziek te schrijven. Het resultaat was Black Oak.
Na het uitbrengen van de “Black Oak” split EP en een gezamenlijke tour door Duitsland en Switzerland in 2014 bleven de heren nummers schrijven en inmiddels is Black Oak een volwaardige band, los van The Black Atlantic en I am Oak. In Oktober 2015 zal de nieuwe EP “Gallop” uitkomen als voorproefje op het debuutalbum “Equinox” wat in de Lente van 2016 zal verschijnen.
