Het dynamische en eigenzinnige Club Guy & Roni liet zich voor ‘Naked Lunch’ inspireren door het gelijknamige meesterwerk van de Amerikaanse schrijver William Burroughs. Hoofdpersoon in het boek is een aan drugs verslaafde man, die een hallucinerende trip door een nachtmerrieachtig landschap maakt. Ook Club Guy & Roni komt terecht op een plek tussen waan en werkelijkheid, waar dromen waarheid worden, hoop opbloeit, maar ook angsten opdoemen. Weizman en Haver omringen zich voor ‘Naked Lunch’ met een creatief topteam. Dansers en acteurs staan op het podium met drie zangers van VOCAALLAB en drie percussionisten van Slagwerk Den Haag. Oscar van Woensel schrijft de tekst, Yannis Kyriakides componeert de muziek. Welkom in de ADHD-wereld van psychotische poëzie, banale humor en hét credo van onze tijd: ik zeg wat ik denk, dus ik ben.

In april wonnen Guy & Roni in Moskou een Golden Mask National Theatre Award. Ze wonnen de award in de categorie ‘Ballet/contemporary dance – best ballet master/best choreographer’ met de in Rusland geproduceerde versie van ‘L’histoire du Soldat’. Guy & Roni waren de enige genomineerden buiten Rusland.

Dynamic, obstinate and raw: these labels perfectly capture the productions of Club Guy & Roni. For Naked Lunch, choreographers Guy Weizman and Roni Haver sought inspiration in the masterwork of the same name by the American writer William Burroughs. The book’s main character is a drug addict who takes a hallucinating trip through a nightmarish landscape. Club Guy & Roni also arrive at a place that lies somewhere between delusion and reality, where dreams become reality and hope blossoms, but where your worst fears also appear. The dancers and actors perform along with four singers from VOCAALLAB and four percussionists from Slagwerk Den Haag. Oscar van Woensel wrote the text and Yannis Kyriakides composed the music.
