Talent, ambitie en een grote liefde voor muziek: dat is wat het Nederlands Studenten Orkest (NSO) en violiste Noa Wildschut verbindt. Dit concert deelt het orkest het podium met het jonge toptalent Noa Wildschut, die samen met het orkest Prokofjevs Vioolconcert nr. 2 uitvoert.
Het samenspel van Noa Wildschut met het NSO maakt dit concert tot een bijzondere ervaring vol muzikaliteit en gedeelde liefde voor muziek. Een maand lang leggen de meest getalenteerde studentmusici hun studieboeken opzij om samen te musiceren. Tijdens een twee weken durende tournee door Nederland, Duisburg en Berlijn geeft het orkest dertien concerten in vooraanstaande zalen.
Als hoofdwerk voert het NSO twee suites uit, gebaseerd op het meest ambitieuze en grootse orkestrale werk van Maurice Ravel, Daphnis et Chloé. Daarnaast presenteert het orkest de wereldpremière van de nieuwste compositie van componist en trombonist Arjan Linker. Het NSO 2026 staat dit jaar in het thema ‘Ongetemd’.

Talent, ambition, and a deep love of music: that’s what unites the Netherlands Student Orchestra and violinist Noa Wildschut. For this concert, the orchestra shares the stage with the young, super-talented Noa Wildschut, who will perform Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto with the orchestra. As the main work, the Netherlands Student Orchestra will perform two suites based on Maurice Ravel’s most ambitious and grand orchestral work, Daphnis et Chloé. The orchestra will also present the world premiere of the latest composition by composer and trombonist Arjan Linker. The theme of the Netherlands Student Orchestra 2026 is “Untamed.”

The collaboration with the Netherlands Student Orchestra feels natural: young musicians connected by their shared love of music and the pursuit of a high standard. Noa Wildschut is a rising star whose passion for music resonates in every detail of her playing. The Netherlands Student Orchestra, though largely composed of non-professional musicians, performs at an impressive level thanks to their dedication and commitment. Noa Wildschut’s collaboration with the Netherlands Student Orchestra—young musicians who pour their passion into music—makes this concert a unique experience full of musicality, expression, and a shared love of music.
Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto marks a turning point in his life and work. After years in Paris and the United States, he returned to the Soviet Union, where he had to reconcile his own style with the demands of Soviet realism. The concerto unites lyricism and virtuosity and points to his later ballet music, such as Romeo and Juliet.
Ravel composed Daphnis et Chloé for the Ballets Russes, inspired by an ancient Greek love story. The ballet tells the story of two growing children falling in love and being saved from danger by the god Pan. Ravel’s music unites timbre, lyricism, and rhythm, allowing the orchestra to bring the story’s drama and poetic atmosphere to life.
Arjan Linker wrote a new composition for the NSO, inspired by the theme of the untamed. During his studies, he became fascinated by Khayal, the classical music of Northern India, and immersed himself in this tradition. Indian music has since formed an important part of Linker’s musical language: he incorporates raga into Western compositions and is the first trombonist to perform Indian classical recitals.
