Mell VF (voorheen Mell & Vintage Future) maakt de podia onveilig met rootsy rhythm-‘n-blues en swingende soul. Denk aan Booker T. & the M.G.’s en Sly & Family Stone, en strooi daar een lepel Adele en Janis Joplin overheen. In 2022 stond het trio in het voorprogramma van Elton John en speelde zich internationaal in de kijker met hun versie van Lou Reeds ‘Perfect Day’. Begin dit jaar was er triest nieuws door het overlijden van toetsenist Nico Brandsen, die de groep wegens ziekte een half jaar daarvoor had verlaten. Komend jaar staat in het teken van een nieuw hoofdstuk, met onder andere een theatertour waarin Mell VF het muzikale en familiale DNA laat samensmelten, verhalen en muziek met elkaar verweeft en de grens tussen fictie en waarheid laat vervagen.

In 2022, the trio opened for Elton John and gained international attention with their rendition of Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day’. Earlier this year, there was sad news with the passing of keyboardist Nico Brandsen, who had left the group due to illness six months prior. The upcoming year is marked by a new chapter, including a theater tour where Mell VF blends musical and familial DNA, intertwines stories and music, and blurs the line between fiction and truth.
