Beethoven’s Fifth
Just like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Berliner Philharmoniker, the London Philharmonic Orchestra belongs to the line of greatest orchestras in the world. We are therefore very proud to welcome them to De Oosterpoort for the second time in a short while. Just like February 2015, Beethoven is again on the lectern, and again a young soloist is at the grand piano: Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev. According to the international press, the performance of this pianist born in Moscow conjures up memories of the grandeur of keyboard heroes of the past. The concert will fall under the wings of the world famous, now 84-year old director Sir Roger Norrington, by all accounts the British embodiment of historical performance practice. It’s difficult to find a more appropriate nickname for Beethoven’s ‘Pianoconcerto No. 5’ than ‘Emperor’, and his ‘Fifth Symphony’ tops the list of all-time classical favourites: the first four notes are among the world’s most famous. Join us in listening as fate will knock on our door to discover its striking conclusion.

Price includes one drink (in break or afterwards) and wardrobe.
