Met hun grootse folkrock, Ierse roots en meeslepende melodieën groeide Kingfishr in korte tijd uit tot een van de opvallendste nieuwe namen uit Ierland. In 2025 maakten ze nog indruk op ESNS en later dat jaar voor een uitverkochte grote zaal van De Oosterpoort. Dat smaakte naar meer en dus keert de band in 2026 terug naar Groningen met nieuw werk én deze keer twee shows.
Kingfishr ontstond aan de University of Limerick en maakt melodieuze folkrock met invloeden uit traditionele Ierse muziek. De band combineert intieme songs met grootse arrangementen en groeide de afgelopen jaren snel, met uitverkochte shows en miljoenen streams als gevolg. Ook live valt de sterke samenzang en de hechte band met het publiek op. Op debuutalbum Halcyon laat het trio horen hoe traditionele invloeden en moderne indierock samenkomen.

In 2025, the band impressed audiences at ESNS and later returned for a sold-out show in the main hall of De Oosterpoort. That clearly left audiences wanting more, as Kingfishr return to Groningen in 2026 with new music and this time two shows.
