Iris Hond is niet alleen bekend door haar fraaie pianospel, maar ook door de manier waarop ze het publiek weet mee te nemen in persoonlijke optredens. Ze werkte al eerder succesvol samen met Strijkorkest Kamerata Zuid in een project rondom Ludovico Einaudi. Dit najaar brengen ze samen opnieuw een avondvullend programma, met als hoogtepunt de Nederlandse première van Einaudi’s pianoconcert Domino.
Naast dit werk zal Iris nieuwe en bekende eigen composities ten gehore brengen, waarvoor componist Xavier van de Poll de orkestraties maakte. Kamerata Zuid voegt daar een aantal grote klassieke werken van onder anderen Chopin en Rachmaninov aan toe.
Pianist en componist Iris Hond stond vorig jaar maar liefst tien keer achter elkaar in de Grote Zaal van het Koninklijk Concertgebouw Amsterdam met de muziek van haar geliefde componist. Einaudi zelf zei over haar spel: “One of the most beautiful performances of my music.” Het is dus ook niet gek dat hij Iris vroeg zijn enige pianoconcert voor het eerst ten gehore te brengen. Iris Hond over dit werk: “Toen Einaudi het stuk stuurde, was ik meteen verliefd. Vooral het tweede deel is hartverscheurend mooi. Ik voel me zeer vereerd dat hij mij hiervoor heeft gevraagd.”
Vanavond staat het orkest onder leiding van dirigent Frank Adams.

Iris Hond is not only known for her beautiful piano performances, but also for the way in which she manages to take the audience along on these personal musical explorations. She already collaborated once before with string orchestra Kamerata Zuid on a project focused on Ludovico Einaudi. This autumn they will once again bring an evening-length program, culminating in the Dutch premiere of Einaudi’s piano concerto Domino.
In addition to this work, Iris will perform both old and new original compositions, orchestrated by composer Xavier van de Poll. Kamerata Zuid adds a number of great classical works by Chopin and Rachmaninov, among others.
Last year, pianist and composer Iris Hond performed the music of her beloved composer, Ludovico Einaudi, no less than ten consecutive times in the Main Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Einaudi herself hailed her interpretation as “one of the most beautiful performances of my music.” It is therefore not surprising that he asked Iris to be the first to perform his sole piano concerto. Iris Hond about this work: “When Einaudi sent me the piece, I immediately fell in love with it. The second part in particular is achingly beautiful. I feel deeply honoured that he asked me to do this.”
