Choreograaf Conny Janssen roept in haar nieuwe, grootschalige dansvoorstelling vragen op over identiteit, verbondenheid en verlies. Met livemuziek van de eigenzinnige Nederlands-Marokkaanse popartiest Roufaida ontvouwt zich een meeslepende reis over wat het betekent om ergens thuis te zijn en wat er gebeurt wanneer dat thuis verandert of verdwijnt.
BEHIND THE WALL bouwt voort op Conny Janssens eerdere voorstelling HOME, die draaide om de vraag wat ons met elkaar verbindt. Je ziet dansers hun weg zoeken in een wereld waar herinneringen, verlies en hoop voortdurend door elkaar bewegen. Wat neem je mee uit het verleden wanneer je opnieuw moet beginnen? Waar mag je je thuis voelen? En hoe blijf je verbonden met je roots? Het avontuurlijke en diverse ensemble brengt deze zoektocht tot leven met een intensiteit die zowel ontroert als confronteert.
Met haar krachtige mix van rauwe energie en verstilde poëzie creëert Conny Janssen ook nu een wereld waarin persoonlijke verhalen en universele vragen elkaar raken. De livemuziek van Roufaida vormt het kloppende hart van de voorstelling. Haar gelaagde sound, waarin Noord-Afrikaanse invloeden, alternatieve pop en poëtische teksten samenkomen, verdiept de thematiek en versterkt de emotionele kracht van de dans.

In her new, large-scale dance production, choreographer Conny Janssen explores questions surrounding identity, connection, and loss. Featuring live music by the distinctive Dutch-Moroccan pop artist Roufaida, the performance unfolds as an immersive journey into what it means to call a place “home”—and what happens when that home changes or disappears.
BEHIND THE WALL builds upon Conny Janssen’s previous work, HOME, which centered on the question of what binds us together. Dancers navigate a world where memories, loss, and hope constantly intertwine. What do you carry with you from the past when you are forced to start anew? Where are you permitted to feel at home? And how do you maintain a connection to your roots? The adventurous and diverse ensemble brings this quest to life with an intensity that is as moving as it is confronting.
Through her powerful blend of raw energy and quiet poetry, Conny Janssen once again creates a world where personal narratives intersect with universal questions. The live music by Roufaida serves as the beating heart of the production; her layered sound—a fusion of North African influences, alternative pop, and poetic lyrics—deepens the themes and amplifies the emotional resonance of the dance.
