Vrijwel jaarlijks komen The African Mamas naar ons land en daar is een zeer goede reden voor: “Een onvergetelijk mooi concert”, schreef Musicalnieuws over een van hun hartverwarmende, energieke shows.
Deze keer brengen de zangeressen en hun band een ode aan The Big Five van de Zuid-Afrikaanse muziek. Allereerst is dat natuurlijk Miriam Makeba, die met recht de eretitel Mama Africa kreeg met onvergetelijke klassiekers als Pata Pata, Malaika en The Click Song. Verder wordt er werk gebracht van zwaargewichten als Hugh Masekela en de bij ons wellicht wat minder bekende Brenda Fassie, Bushi Mlongo en het duo Letta Mbulu en Caiphus Semenya. Met deze reis door het Zuid-Afrikaanse muzieklandschap bezorgen The African Mamas het publiek opnieuw een muzikale belevenis die ze nog lang bij zal blijven.

This time, the singers and their band pay tribute to The Big Five of South African music. At the heart of the show is, of course, Miriam Makeba, rightfully honored as Mama Africa, with timeless classics like Pata Pata, Malaika, and The Click Song.
In addition, the performance celebrates the music of legendary figures such as Hugh Masekela, as well as lesser-known but equally influential artists like Brenda Fassie, Busi Mhlongo, and the duo Letta Mbulu & Caiphus Semenya.
