De Oosterpoort en Venice, dat is als twee handen op een buik. Al meerdere keren wist de band De Oosterpoort te vullen met een warmte die de temperatuur van hun thuisbasis Californië oversteeg. Na een zeer succesvolle tour in 2022 keren de mannen op 21 maart terug naar De Oosterpoort.
De band bestaat uit twee paar broers, Mark en Michael Lennon en hun neven Kipp en Pat Lennon. Zij treden al samen op sinds de jaren 80 en hebben inmiddels al meer dan 20 albums uitgebracht. Venice staat bekend om de prachtige harmonieën, persoonlijke teksten en geweldige shows. David Crosby noemt hen dat ook niet voor niets “the best vocal group in the country”.
Doorbraak in Nederland
De band werd opgericht in 1977 en vernoemd naar het beroemde strand van Los Angeles, Venice Beach. Twintig jaar later sloot Nederland de groep in de armen na de indrukwekkende ‘2 Meter Sessie’ bij Jan Douwe Kroeske. Al snel hadden ze een gouden plaat en een Edison Music Award voor Beste Internationale Artiest. En nog steeds is Venice enorm populair. Dat de liefde wederzijds is, bleek in 2006 toen Michael, Mark, Kipp en Pat een album naar onze hoofdstad vernoemden.
De Oosterpoort and Venice go hand in hand. Multiple times, the band has managed to fill De Oosterpoort with a warmth that surpasses the temperature of their home California. Following a highly successful tour in 2022, the men return to De Oosterpoort on March 21st.

The band was formed in 1977 and named after the famous Los Angeles beach, Venice Beach. Twenty years later, the Netherlands embraced the group after an impressive ‘2 Meter Session’ with Jan Douwe Kroeske. They quickly earned a gold record and an Edison Music Award for Best International Artist. Venice remains incredibly popular to this day. The mutual love was evident in 2006 when Michael, Mark, Kipp, and Pat named an album after our capital city.
