Toen we bij de jongens van de legendarische LOFT-avonden in VERA lieten vallen dat we Tommy Guerrero op zaterdag 23 april naar Huize Maas halen, waren ze door het dolle heen. En dat verbaast ons niets want niet alleen is Tommy Guerrero een legendarische skateboarder, de man kwam uit voor het succesvolle Powell Peralta team in de jaren ’80, hij maakt ook nog eens de meest lekkere instrumentale tracks. Met dezelfde coole attitude als waarmee hij door de straten van San Francisco op zijn deck grind, brengt hij jazz, rock, blues, funk, soul en hiphop samen in een zwoele luistertrip.
There are talents, and there are multi talents. Tommy Guerrero is both a legendary pro skater – he was one of the prominent members of Powell Peralta’s Bones Brigade – and a gifted musician. Whether he is surfing the streets of San Francisco, or fusing jazz, rock, blues, funk, soul and hip hop into a sultry instrumental score, everything is performed with the same, effortless cool. This April, Guerrero will be showing off his musical skills at Huize Maas.
