MENA Techno Take-over
Liefhebbers van dance, techno, diepe bassen en waanzinnig gemixte elektronische muziek opgelet! Nergens groeit de dancecultuur zo hard als in het Midden-Oosten en Noord-Afrika. Op vrijdag 19 mei verandert De Oosterpoort in een nachtclub waar de beste DJ’s uit de MENA-regio live komen draaien. Tijdens Tablatronics stap jij binnen in een wereld van knarsende elektronische geluidsgolven, hypnotiserende melodieën en traditionele muziek uit de MENA-regio.
Kijk naar club-instituten als ADE, Boiler Room en festivals als Lowlands en je ziet dat elektronische muziek uit het Midden-Oosten en Noord-Afrika een steeds grotere plek inneemt. Steeds meer mensen buiten de regio ontdekken dat traditionele Arabische muziek enorm dansbare techno, dubstep en drum-‘n-bass kan opleveren. TABLATRONICS viert deze samensmelting van traditionele en moderne geluiden, waarbij de ritmes en geluiden van traditionele muziek uit de MENA-regio wordt vermengd met de nieuwste elektronische muziekproducties.
De line-up bestaat uit enkele vaandeldragers uit het genre, waaronder ACID ARAB, Ammar808, Hello Psychaleppo en Glitter55. Naast de foyer, gehost door DJ Borgul King & friends en in samenwerking met Clash presenteren wij Alan Ahued Naime’s White Noise in de Glazen Gang!
ACID ARAB (Live)
Het machtige muziekcollectief Acid Arab ontstond tien jaar geleden uit de melting pot die Parijs heet. Met hun dansvloerknallers, die bestaan uit een bedwelmende mix van scherpe Westerse elektronische muziek met Oosterse klanken en zang, hebben ze menig festival en clubpubliek betoverd. Acid Arab heeft hun unieke stijl aangescherpt door talrijke samenwerkingen en constante reizen rond de Middellandse Zee en daarbuiten. Dit levert een spectrum van stijlen op, waarbij de grenzen tussen genres compleet vervagen. Denk aan Anatolische trance, synthetische dabkeh, bionische raï en nog veel meer!
Ammar808
Sofyann Ben Youssef aka Ammar808 is de architect achter goed-ontvangen albums als Maghreb United en Global Control / Invisible Invasion. Voordat Ammar808 zich vestigde in Denemarken ondernam hij een solo-reis die hem de Godfather van de Tunesische alternative en elektronische scene maakte. Ammar808’s dorst naar ongehoorde muzikale combinaties leidde naar residenties in Wenen en Brussel en zelfs het produceren van een album voor Touareg-band Kel Assouf, waarop hij zelf meespeelde op zijn Moog-bas.
Hello Psychaleppo
Hello Psychaleppo, ook wel The Arab Bass Dropper, is een baanbrekende producer van elektronische muziek uit Aleppo, de stad die bekend staat om zijn rijke muzikale erfgoed. Samer Saem Eldahr, het brein achter Hello Psychaleppo, combineert traditionele Arabische muziektheorie en ritmes met geavanceerde elektronische geluiden. Zijn eerste album Gool L’ah zette de standaard voor het opkomende genre van electro-tarab. Met de hypnotiserende visuals zijn de sets van Hello Psychalepppo een ontdekkingsreis, zowel muzikaal als visueel.
Glitter55
Shooting star Glitter55 is al een tijdje een gevestigde naam in Frankrijk. Na haar Boiler Room sessie gaat het de DJ uit Rabat voor de wind. Tijdens haar sets speelt Glitter55 intens gesyncopeerde beats, versterkt met breakbeats en gqom-ritmes. Ze draaide eerder al op festivals als We Love Green, Le Bon Air Festival en is resident op Rinse France.
Attention lovers of dance, techno, deep bass and insanely mixed electronic music! The dance culture rapid growth in the Middle East and North Africa is unrivaled. On Friday, May 19th, De Oosterpoort will transform into a nightclub where the best DJs from the MENA region will perform live. During Tablatronics, you will enter a world of crunching electronic sound waves, hypnotic melodies, combined with traditional music from the MENA region.
If you look at club institutions like ADE, Boiler Room and festivals like Lowlands, you can see that electronic music from the Middle East and North Africa is taking up an increasingly prominent place. More and more people outside the region are discovering that traditional Arabic music can lay the foundation for immensely danceable techno, dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass. TABLATRONICS celebrates this fusion of traditional and modern sounds, mixing the rhythms and sounds of traditional music from the MENA region with the latest electronic music productions. The lineup includes some flag bearers of the genre, including ACID ARAB (Live), Ammar808, Hello Psychaleppo, and Glitter55.
ACID ARAB (Live)
The mighty music collective Acid Arab emerged ten years ago from the melting pot that is Paris. With their dancefloor bangers, which consist of an intoxicating mix of punchy Western electronic music with Eastern sounds and vocals, they have enchanted many festival and club audiences. Acid Arab have sharpened their unique style through numerous collaborations and constant travel around the Mediterranean and beyond. This produces a spectrum of styles, completely blurring the boundaries between genres. Think of Anatolian trance, synthetic dabkeh, bionic raï and much more!
Ammar808
Sofyann Ben Youssef aka Ammar808 is the architect behind well-received albums such as Maghreb United and Global Control/Invisible Invasion. Before settling in Denmark, Ammar808 undertook a solo journey that made him the Godfather of the Tunisian alternative and electronic scene. Ammar808’s thirst for unheard musical combinations led to residencies in Vienna and Brussels and even producing an album for Tuareg band Kel Assouf, on which he featured with his Moog bass.
Hello Psychaleppo
Hello Psychaleppo, also known as The Arab Bass Dropper, is a groundbreaking electronic music producer from Aleppo, the city known for its rich musical heritage. Samer Saem Eldahr, the brain behind Hello Psychaleppo, combines traditional Arab music theory and rhythms with advanced electronic sounds. His first album Gool L’ah set the standard for the emerging genre of electro-tarab. With the hypnotic visuals, Hello Psychaleppo’s sets are a journey of discovery, both musically and visually.
Glitter55
Shooting star Glitter55 has been a well-established name in France for some time now. After her Boiler Room session, the DJ from Rabat has been on the rise. During her sets, Glitter55 plays intensely syncopated beats, enhanced with breakbeats and gqom rhythms. She has previously played at festivals such as We Love Green, Le Bon Air Festival and is a resident on Rinse France.
