Amsterdamse singer-songwriter Pitou maakte met haar debuutalbum Big Tear “een van de mooiste hedendaagse indiepopplaten van het moment”, aldus een lovende Volkskrant. Haar zeer specifieke muzikale achtergrond – zingen in een klassiek kinderkoor en reizen met haar ouders, waarbij ze cassettebandjes meenam van Malinese, Senegalese en Indiase artiesten – leidde tot haar eigen herkenbare muzikale universum. Intuïtieve en poëtische teksten gaan hand in hand met een prachtige muzikale mix van folk, klassiek en experimentele pop.
Op haar nieuwe plaat P2 laat ze zich zowel emotioneel als creatief volledig gaan. Een carrouselrit vol leven: manie, euforie, onafhankelijkheid en melancholie vinden allemaal hun weg naar de dansvloer. Van de kakofonische leadsingle Too Good To Go, het etherische Pirate en Morning Star, het majestueuze Restlessness tot het manische To Do What: P2 markeert een meer procesgerichte, DIY-aanpak, verder versterkt door speelse visuals.
“Voordat ik dit album maakte, voelde ik niet de drang om muziek te maken wanneer ik gelukkig was. Ik reserveerde muziek alleen voor momenten waarop ik verdrietig was en op zoek naar antwoorden. Op P2 werd muziek niet alleen mijn troost, maar ook mijn metgezel in alle andere emoties en facetten van het leven.”

On her new album P2, she lets herself run free both emotionally and creatively. It’s a carousel ride brimming with life: mania, euphoria, independence, and melancholy all make their way to the dancefloor. From the cacophonous lead single “Too Good To Go”, the ethereal “Pirate” and “Morning Star”, the majestic “Restlessness”, to the manic “To Do What”: P2 marks a more process-based, DIY approach, further amplified by its playful visuals.
“Before I made this album, I didn’t feel the urge to make music when I was happy. I reserved music only for moments when I was sad and searching for answers. On P2, music became not only my solace, but also my companion in all other emotions and facets of life.”
