New Cool Collective
Jazz, dance, Latin, salsa, Afrobeat: New Cool Collective is back with a dance party where the sparks fly. The always sharply dressed collective has toured the world, won numerous awards and played countless times at leading festivals and clubs. Their autumn stop at De Oosterpoort has become a fixture, and once again this year they guarantee a steaming party!
It all started in 1993 at Amsterdam’s Soul Kitchen, where Benjamin Herman and DJ Graham B shared the stage: while Graham B spun records, Benjamin played along. That unique combination soon led to the eight-piece New Cool Collective. Over the years the group has played the hippest clubs and festivals worldwide, either in its regular eight-piece line-up or as a nineteen-piece big band. NCC has also collaborated with Tony Allen, Mapacha Africa, Andrew Roachford, Jules Deelder, Typhoon, Guus Meeuwis, Matt Bianco, Thierno Koité and Georgie Fame, among others.
