Matteo Myderwyk zijn muziek is niet in een hokje te plaatsen. Hij voegt de improvisatie van jazz, het melodische van pop en het repetitieve van dance samen en voert dit alles uit met de techniek van een klassiek geschoolde pianist. Myderwyk’s muziek heeft dan ook liefhebbers in allerlei kampen: in traditionele concertzalen, op festivals als Down The Rabbit Hole en in nachtclubs als De School.
Matteo Myderwyk is de eerste Nederlandse pianist en componist die werd getekend op het prestigieuze Warner Classics label. Zijn jarenlange opleiding tot klassiek pianist aan het conservatorium leerde hem vooral om muziek van zijn helden achter te laten en zijn eigen muzikale stempel te vinden. Zijn belangrijkste les in deze periode: muziek staat niet op papier, maar wordt in het moment gemaakt. Van impressionistisch pianospel, minimalistische soundscapes op orgel tot schurende solo’s uit zijn synthesizer, zijn liveshows staan in het teken van zijn klassieke achtergrond gemixt met de wereld van de free jazz.

Matteo Myderwyk is the first Dutch pianist and composer to be signed to the prestigious Warner Classics label. His years of classical piano training at the conservatory taught him to move beyond the music of his heroes and find his own musical voice. His most important lesson during this time: music isn’t on paper; it is created in the moment. From impressionistic piano playing and minimalist soundscapes on the organ to raw solos on his synthesizer, his live performances are a blend of his classical background and the world of free jazz.
