After a sold out concert last year Ed Kowalczyk, the legendary former lead singer of the popular American rock band Live, is returning to Groningen. And this time it will be for a very special concert! The concert will have the theme ‘Throwing Copper’, Live’s second album which was released in 1994 and has since then sold several million copies. In De Oosterpoort Kowalczyk will be accompanied by the Noordpool Orchesta, as he will be at Pinkpop. ‘Throwing Copper’ is one of the most successful records from Live’s repertoire and meant their breakthrough to the large audience. This album, with hit songs such as ‘Selling The Drama’, ‘All Over You’, ‘I Alone’ and ‘Lightning Crashes’ was in the Album Top 100 for 13 weeks in Holland. Live these songs gain a whole new dimension by the interplay with the Noordpool Orchestra. This light music orchestra, conducted by Reinout Douma, consists of 42 professional musicians who all play various music genres such as jazz, pop, cabaret, hip hop and film music. Kowalczyk will only be performing with the orchestra during Pinkpop and in De Oosterpoort, during his other club shows he will be supported by this regular backing band. For a Live / Ed Kowalczyk fan this is a concert not to be missed!

Na een uitverkocht concert vorig jaar komt Ed Kowalczyk, de legendarische voormalige leadzanger van de populaire Amerikaanse rockband Live, terug naar Groningen. En dit keer voor een wel heel bijzonder concert! Dit concert staat in het teken van ‘Throwing Copper’, het tweede album van Live dat in 1994 verscheen en sindsdien miljoenen keren over de toonbank ging. In De Oosterpoort wordt Kowalczyk, net als op Pinkpop, begeleid door het Noordpool Orkest.
‘Throwing Copper’ is een van de meest succesvolle platen uit het repertoire van Live en betekende de doorbraak naar het grote publiek. Dit album, met hits als ‘Selling The Drama’, ‘All Over You’, ‘I Alone’ en ‘Lightning Crashes’ stond in Nederland 13 weken lang in de Album Top 100. Live krijgen de nummers nu een geheel nieuwe dimensie door het samenspel met het Noordpool Orkest. Dit lichte muziek orkest, onder leiding van dirigent Reinout Douma, bestaat uit 42 professionele musici die allerlei muziekgenres spelen waaronder jazz, pop, kleinkunst, hiphop en filmmuziek. Kowalczyk speelt alleen tijdens Pinkpop en in De Oosterpoort met het orkest, tijdens de overige clubshows wordt hij ondersteund door zijn vaste begeleidingsband.
