Multitalented artist blends cello with voice
Ook in de wereld van de klassieke muziek kom je steeds vaker multitalenten tegen die net zo makkelijk zingen als een instrument bespelen. Denk aan Thomas Oliemans en Abel Selaocoe. Celliste en zangeres Hadewych van Gent sluit zelfverzekerd aan bij deze trend en laat stem en snaren regelmatig versmelten tot een instrument. Daarmee verkent ze de oeroude volksmuziek en de invloed daarvan op hedendaagse werken.
De jury van Dutch Classical Talent was direct razend enthousiast: “Risico nemen is haar tweede natuur. Dat bewijst Hadewych door tegelijk te zingen en te spelen. Zowel haar stem als haar celloklank zijn vol en expressief en ook in haar timing toont ze lef.”

Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch Classical Talent (voorheen Vriendenkrans Concours en Het Debuut) is een ontwikkelingstraject voor jonge Nederlandse topmusici. Onder de laureaten bevinden zich klinkende namen als Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, het Van Baerle Trio en het Berlage Saxophone Quartet. Talent alleen is niet genoeg om de finale te bereiken; deelnemers moeten onderscheidende en prikkelende programma’s meenemen, visie en een beetje lef. De uitreiking van de DCT Award vindt plaats tijdens de feestelijke finale op zondag 6 juni 2027 in TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht).
In the world of classical music, too, you increasingly encounter multi-talents who sing just as easily as they play an instrument. Think of Thomas Oliemans and Abel Selaocoe. Cellist and singer Hadewych van Gent confidently joins this trend, regularly merging voice and strings into a single instrument. In doing so, she explores ancient folk music and its influence on contemporary works.
The jury of Dutch Classical Talent was immediately wildly enthusiastic: “Taking risks is second nature to her. Hadewych proves this by simultaneously singing and playing. Both her voice and her cello sound are full and expressive, and she also shows boldness in her timing.”

Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch Classical Talent (formerly Vriendenkrans Concours and Het Debuut) is a development program for young Dutch top musicians. Among the laureates are renowned names such as Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, the Van Baerle Trio, and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet. Talent alone is not enough to reach the final; Participants must bring distinctive and stimulating programs, vision, and a bit of guts. The presentation of the DCT Award will take place during the festive final on Sunday, June 6, 2027, at TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht).
