De muziek van Davina and the Vagabonds ademt jazz en blues uit de vroege twintigste eeuw. Tegelijkertijd doe je de band daarmee ook tekort. Ondanks het authentieke karakter combineert Davina and the Vagabonds haar sound namelijk ook met invloeden vanuit de pop, soul en latin.

De band staat bekend om hun energieke live shows en scherpe bandlook. Het geheime wapen van de band is zonder twijfel frontvrouw Davina Sowers. Zij wordt vaak vergeleken met Adele, Amy Winehouse en Etta James. De band heeft al menig festival op z’n kop gezet!
Begin juni komt de band naar De Oosterpoort met het nieuwe album ‘Nicollet and Tenth’ op zak voor een avond vol New Orleans-grooves en upbeat-swing!

“First, Sowers did a stunning take on Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind,” where she poured a tremendous amount of passion into an already emotional song. Then, there was “St. Michael vs. the Devil,” her own composition, which won a songwriting contest several years ago, and is an epic tale of good vs. evil.”

Davina and the Vagabonds’ music breathes jazz and blues from the early twentieth century. Despite its authentic character, Davina and the Vagabonds combines its sound also with influences from pop, sould and latin.
The band is known for their energetic live shows with their ‘secret weapon’, the frontwoman of the band, Davina Sowers. She is often compared to Adele, Amy Winehouse and Etta James. The band already turned many festivals upside down!
On the 1st of June, the band will visit De Oosterpoort with its new album ‘Nicollet and Tenth’ and will serve you with an evening full of New Orleans-grooves and an upbeat swing!
