Spectaculaire dans en live muziek
FAITH is na Islands of Empathy en Fortune de nieuwste voorstelling in The Human Odyssey serie. Waarin Club Guy & Roni verschillende culturen en wereldbeelden bij elkaar brengt, laat clashen en de diepe menselijke connectie via een explosie aan live muziek en spectaculaire choreografieën laat zien.
Geloof in de toekomst
Gnawa muziek, vaak geassocieerd met trance en lila rituelen, stuurt de performers in een sensitieve ontdekking van geloof. Naar een spirituele wereld waarvan we in het Westen misschien wat zijn weggedreven. Wat is er nog om ons heen wat we niet zien maar alleen kunnen voelen? De samenkomst van negen dansers en vijf muzikanten uit Nederland en Marokko maakt FAITH een aangrijpende interculturele voorstelling waarin gezocht wordt naar een gemeenschappelijke basis die essentieel is voor een gezamenlijk geloof in de toekomst.
Meeslepend mozaïek
Een van de inspiratiebronnen voor FAITH zijn de Marokkaanse roots van Guy Weizman’s familie. Die liggen in Casablanca, in dezelfde wijk waar ook Khalid Benghrib is opgegroeid. Als generatiegenoten hadden zij elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, maar het leven liep anders. Nu komen ze samen in FAITH. De invloed van de Contempory dans choreograaf Khalid Benghrib is voelbaar in de benadering van dans als een totaalervaring. Met ongeëvenaarde precisie en haar karakteristieke strakke choreografieën maakt Roni Haver binnen FAITH de verbinding vanuit spirituele vormen. Samen creëren Weizman, Haver en Benghrib een meeslepend mozaïek van verschillende fysieke, culturele en spirituele benaderingen van geloof.

Khalid Benghrib
Zijn leerschool kreeg Khalid Benghrib van grootmeesters in de dans: Colette Milner, Lahcen Zinoun, Karin Weiner en Christine Gérard. Met die bagage heeft hij met Loren Palmer 2k_far opgericht. Zij maken choreografieën vanuit de gedachte dat dans de manier is om te praten over het leven. De theaterkrant omschreef zijn eerdere werk vanuit gnawa muziek met Lila rituelen als virtuoos en een spannend eerbetoon aan zijn culturele roots.

A sensitive exploration of faith
Gnawa music, often associated with trance and Lila rituals, guides the performers in a sensitive exploration of faith. To a spiritual world from which we in the West may have drifted away? What else surrounds us that we cannot see but only feel?
The coming together of nine dancers and five musicians from the Netherlands and Morocco makes FAITH a compelling intercultural performance that searches for a common ground that is essential for a shared belief in the future. One of the inspirations for FAITH is Guy Weizman’s family’s Moroccan roots, which trace back to Casablanca, the same neighborhood where Khalid Benghrib grew up. As peers, they could have met, but life took them on different paths. Now they come together in FAITH.

The influence of contemporary dance choreographer Khalid Benghrib is evident in the approach to dance as a holistic experience. He learned from dance masters: Colette Milner, Lahcen Zinoun, Karin Weiner, Christine Gérard. With this background, he co-founded Cie 2K_Far with Loren Palmer, creating choreographies based on the idea that dance is a way to talk about life. His work has been showcased in the Netherlands at the Spring performing arts festival and Dancing on the Edge. The Theaterkrant described his earlier work based on gnawa music with Lila rituals as virtuosic and an exciting tribute to his cultural roots.
With unparalleled precision and her characteristic tight choreography, Roni Haver connects from spiritual forms within FAITH. Together, Weizman, Haver, and Benghrib create a captivating mosaic of different physical, cultural, and spiritual approaches to FAITH.
The final mosaic piece lies with the audience.
