Breabach
Breabach wordt gerekend tot de meest kundige en vindingrijke hedendaagse folkacts van Schotland. De traditie van Highlands en Schotse eilanden vormen de basis voor de nummers van de band. In 2023 presenteerde het vijftal hun muziek op grote schaal in de VS, het VK en Europa, en komen 8 mei deze vingervlugge toptalenten met hun opgewekte Gaelische songs naar De Oosterpoort!
Na de succesvolle single Eadar an Dà Bhràigh, bracht Breabach in 2022 het album Fàs uit. Dit album is sterk geïnspireerd door de natuurlijke omgeving van Schotland. De bescherming, het behoud en de regeneratie van de natuurlijke wereld beïnvloedde elk deel van het proces van het maken van het album. In de nummers laat de band dan ook progressieve en traditionele elementen in hun muziek horen. In 2022 werd Breabach uitgeroepen tot Folk Band of the Year en in 2023 waren ze finalist in Album of the Year bij de BBC ALBA Scots Trads Music Awards.
Breabach is counted among Scotland’s most skilful and inventive contemporary folk acts. Highland and Scottish island tradition form the basis of the band’s songs. In 2023, the five-piece presented their music widely in the US, the UK and Europe, and on 8 May, these finger-licking top talents come to De Oosterpoort with their upbeat Gaelic songs!
After the successful single Eadar an Dà Bhràigh, Breabach released the album Fàs in 2022. This album was heavily inspired by Scotland’s natural environment. The protection, preservation and regeneration of the natural world influenced every part of the process of making the album. Consequently, the songs showcase progressive and traditional elements in the band’s music. In 2022, Breabach was named Folk Band of the Year and in 2023 they were finalists in Album of the Year at the BBC ALBA Scots Trads Music Awards.
