Met Anton Newcombe als boegbeeld heeft The Brian Jonestown Massacre al vele personele wisselingen en een groot aantal muzikale verkenningen achter de kiezen. Nieuw werk vind je op het album ‘Fire Doesn’t Grow On Trees’ (24 juni 2022), maar wie kijkt naar de productiviteit van de band is er eigenlijk altijd sprake van nieuw werk aangezien dit alweer het 19e album is dat ze sinds begin jaren negentig uit hebben gebracht. Niet voor niets wordt The Brian Jonestown Massacre als één van de meest invloedrijke psychedelische bands van de afgelopen 30 jaar genoemd. Live weet je nooit wat je kunt verwachten en zijn ze compleet onvoorspelbaar. Legendarisch wordt het zeker wel. Beloofd!
With Anton Newcombe as its figurehead, The Brian Jonestown Massacre has already gone through many personnel changes and a large number of musical odysseys. The label experimental is certainly one that suits the American band very well, flirting with genres such as shoegaze, folk, blues and psychedelic rock, sometimes all at the same time.
The band never lacks inspiration. Their latest record, Fire Doesn’t Grow On Trees (June, 2022), is their 19th full-length studio album since they began recording in the mid 1990s. October 2022, their 20th album, The Future Is Your Past, will be released. It’s not for nothing that The Brian Jonestown Massacre is called one of the most influential psychedelic bands of the past 30 years. When encountered live, you never know what to expect. One thing is for certain: It will be legendary. We promise!
