Richie Spice is een reggae-artiest uit Kingston, Jamaica. Hij groeide op in een uiterst muzikale familie, met broers Joseph (Spanner Banner) en Everton (Pliers). Laatstgenoemde scoorde een wereldhit met ‘Murder She Wrote’. Richie Spice zelf brak door met het nummer ‘Grooving My Girl’ en het album ‘Universal’. Zijn bekendste nummer is misschien wel ‘Youths Dem Cold’ dat o.a. te horen was in de game GTA IV. Spice stond op alle grote reggaefestivals en staat voor positieve, uplifting muziek.
In 2004 gooide Richie Spice internationaal hoge ogen met het album ‘Spice In Your Life’. De LA Times plaatste het album in de Top 10 beste albums van dat jaar. In de daaropvolgende jaren bracht hij o.a. nog albums uit met de Duitse reggaezanger Gentleman (‘Gideon Booth’) en Turbulence (‘The Perfect Balance’). Ook scoorde hij een hit in Suriname met het nummer ‘King and Queen’ (samen met Alison Hinds van de socaformatie Square One). In 2010 was Richie Spice voor het laatst te zien in Groningen en nu komt hij terug naar De Oosterpoort!
Richie Spice is a reggae artist from Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up in an extremely musical family, with brothers Joseph (Spanner Banner) and Everton (Pliers). The latter scored a worldwide hit with ‘Murder She Wrote’. Richie Spice himself broke through with the song ‘Grooving My Girl’ and the album ‘Universal’. His most famous song might be ‘Youths Dem Cold’: this could be heard in the game GTA IV, for example. Spice has performed at all major reggae festivals and stands for positive, uplifting music.
In 2004 Richie Spice impressed internationally with the album ‘Spice In Your Life’. The LA Times placed the album in the Top 10 albums of that year. In the following years he released albums with the German reggae singer Gentleman (‘Gideon Booth’) and Turbulence (‘The Perfect Balance’), amongst others. He also scored a hit in Suriname with the song ‘King and Queen’ (together with Alison Hinds from the soca formation Square One). 2010 was the last time Richie Spice could be seen in Groningen and now he is returning to De Oosterpoort!
