FOOD is een absurde en meeslepende circustheatervoorstelling die de menselijke consumptie onderzoekt. Het begint met een simpele eethandeling die zich langzaam ontwikkelt tot een bijna mechanisch ritueel, waarbij consumptie verandert in iets grotesks en surrealistisch.
Michael Zandl, een Oostenrijkse circusartiest, debuteert als regisseur met FOOD, waarin hij samenwerkt met vier circusartiesten. Zijn kunst combineert absurditeit, abstractie en subtiele humor voor expressieve storytelling. Het is een voorstelling over onze eindeloze honger naar meer. Michael Zandl maakte eerder de geweldige voorstelling Sawdust Symphony die ook in Groningen te zien was.
FOOD belooft een verfrissende en boeiende circusvoorstelling te worden, die het publiek zal fascineren met een unieke mix van artistieke elementen en een subtiel gevoel voor humor.

What begins as a simple act of eating gradually transforms into a maniacal, almost mechanical ritual. We watch as the boundaries between desire and necessity blur, giving rise to something grotesque, surprising, and disturbingly hypnotic. Through acrobatics and object manipulation, these witty circus performers create a vivid physical language. One that questions not just their own, but perhaps even our collective consumption habits – habits shaped under the quiet pressure of commercial persuasion.
Michael Zandl developed this performance together with the performers of FOOD: Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler, and Karin Brodén.
