Lucinda Williams (1953) is al tientallen jaren één van de leidende artiesten in de countryrock- en folkwereld. Williams groeide op met de folkmuziek die haar moeder graag draaide, en de dichtbundels die haar vader schreef. Dit zorgde voor een perfecte combinatie die zij tot uiting bracht in haar muziek. Lucinda’s eerste album ‘Ramblin’ on My Mind’ werd in 1979 uitgebracht. Haar echte doorbraak kwam in 1998 met ‘Car Wheels on a Gravel Road’. Sindsdien is ze niet meer uit de muziekwereld weg te denken en ze won dan ook een Grammy voor Best Country Song met het nummer ‘Passionate Kisses’. Haar elfde studioalbum ‘Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone’ kwam in 2014 uit en werd alom geroemd als een klassiek meesterwerk.
