Brian Wilson komt naar Nederland. De shows zijn onderdeel van de Good Vibrations Greatest Hits Tour. Ook Wilsons oud-bandgenoten Al Jardine en Blondie Chaplin zijn van de partij.
Brian Wilson is een van de meest gerespecteerde artiesten uit de popmuziek en wordt beschouwd als een legendarisch schrijver, producer, arrangeur en performer. Hij heeft een aantal van de meest gekoesterde albums en nummers uit de popmuziek op zijn naam staan. Met Pet Sounds als een van de meest iconische albums. De Pet Sounds Anniversary World Tour werd uitgeroepen tot een van Rolling Stone’s Greatest Tours of 2017, was te zien in 24 landen en telde in totaal 180 shows.
The Beach Boys
Wilson begon zijn carrière als medeoprichter van The Beach Boys. Dat in 1962 tekende bij Capitol Records en datzelfde jaar hun eerste album genaamd Surfin ’Safari uitbracht. De aanvankelijke surf-rockfocus van de band werd al snel verbreed met andere thema’s. Zijn innovatieve vocale en instrumentale arrangementen voor grote hits als I Get Around, California Girls, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, God Only Knows en Good Vibrations zorgden ervoor dat The Beach Boys de meest populaire Amerikaanse band van de jaren zestig was. The Beach Boys vierde in 2012 hun 50-jarig jubileum met een grote internationale tournee en het veelgeprezen studioalbum That’s Why God Made The Radio.
Grote solosuccessen
Ook solo bereikte Brian Wilson grote successen. Hij bracht elf soloalbums uit waaronder het zeer succesvolle SMiLE. Voor dit album ontving Wilson zijn eerste Grammy Award. Zijn tweede won hij voor het produceren van de veelgeprezen release van The SMiLE Sessions uit 2011. Met zijn eigen band heeft Wilson de afgelopen jaren meerdere grote, uitverkochte tournees gedaan over de hele wereld.
In 2015 bracht Brian Wilson zijn soloalbum No Pier Pressure uit voor de bekroonde film Love & Mercy. Love & Mercy schetst een onconventioneel portret van de muzieklegende. De film is geregisseerd door Bill Pohlad en de hoofdrollen zijn voor John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks en Paul Giamatti. Voor het nummer One Kind Of Love van het album No Pier Pressure ontving Wilson zijn eerste Golden Globe-nominatie voor Best Original Song (Motion Picture).
Songwriters Hall of Fame
Brian Wilson ontving tevens de Kennedy Center Honors, is opgenomen in de Songwriters Hall of Fame en in de U.K. Music Hall of Fame. Als lid van The Beach Boys is hij in 1988 ook opgenomen in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2001 ontving hij de Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Beach Boys
Wilson started his career as cofounder of The Beach Boys. The band was signed by Capitol Records in 1962 and released their first album Surfin’ Safari that same year. The band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes too. His innovatory vocal and instrumental arrangements for great hits such as I Get Around, California Girls, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, God Only Knows and Good Vibrations made The Beach Boys one of the most-popular American bands of the ‘60s. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012, with a major international tour and the renowned studio album That’s Why God Made The Radio.
Solo succes
Brian Wilson booked great successes solo too. He released eleven solo albums, including the very successful SMiLE. Wilson received his first Grammy Award for this album. He won his second for producing the acclaimed release of The SMiLE Sessions in 2011. Wilson and his own band have done multiple major, sold-out tours around the world over the last years.
Brian Wilson released his solo album No Pier Pressure in 2015, comprising soundtracks for the award-winning film Love & Mercy. The film paints an unconventional picture of the music legend. It is directed by Bill Pohlad and stars John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Giamatti. Songwriters Hall of Fame
Brian Wilson was also awarded with the Kennedy Center Honors and is inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the U.K. Music Hall of Fame. As a member of The Beach Boys he was also inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Furthermore, he received the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
