Playful Music

Op 15 april 2027 organiseert het Noord Nederlands Orkest voor de derde keer Game Music in Concert in De Oosterpoort. Rondom dit concert gaan studenten aan de slag met de vraag hoe je videogames en live muziek kunt samenbrengen in één interactieve ervaring, waarin beide disciplines een gelijkwaardige rol spelen.

Studenten van CMGT ontwikkelen hiervoor een game of andere live experience en kunnen daarbij gebruikmaken van bestaande opnames van het NNO. Studenten van Noorderpoort Muzikant kunnen aansluiten om speciaal voor het project muziek te componeren, produceren en uitvoeren. Het NNO treedt op als opdrachtgever en geeft tijdens het traject inhoudelijke feedback op de ideeën en prototypes.

Het project start in september 2026 en bestaat uit onderzoek, werksessies en het ontwikkelen en testen van verschillende concepten. Het eindresultaat wordt op 15 april 2027 als randprogramma van Game Music in Concert gepresenteerd aan het publiek in De Oosterpoort.

On April 15, 2027, the North Netherlands Orchestra is organizing Game Music in Concert for the third time at De Oosterpoort. Surrounding this concert, students will tackle the question of how to bring video games and live music together in a single interactive experience, in which both disciplines play an equal role.

To this end, CMGT students will develop a game or other live experience, making use of existing NNO recordings. Noorderpoort Muzikant students can join in to compose, produce, and perform music specifically for the project. The NNO acts as the client and provides substantive feedback on the ideas and prototypes throughout the process.

The project starts in September 2026 and consists of research, workshops, and the development and testing of various concepts. The final result will be presented to the public at De Oosterpoort on April 15, 2027, as a fringe program for Game Music in Concert.
