Veiligheid en Sensoring

Bij voorstellingen waarin veel theaterrook wordt gebruikt, kunnen rookmelders niet altijd actief blijven. Daarom worden nu brandwachten ingezet om de veiligheid in de zaal te bewaken. Studenten onderzoeken of sensortechnologie hier een alternatief of aanvulling op kan bieden.

Tijdens het project ontwikkelen en testen zij prototypes die informatie verzamelen over rookontwikkeling, bijvoorbeeld over temperatuur en samenstelling. Het doel is om verschillende soorten rook van elkaar te kunnen onderscheiden.

Aan het einde van het project beoordelen de studenten welke oplossing het meest geschikt is voor toepassing in de praktijk en onderbouwen zij hun keuze in een eindverslag.

In performances that use a lot of theatrical smoke, smoke detectors cannot always remain active. Therefore, fire guards are currently deployed to monitor safety in the auditorium. Students are investigating whether sensor technology can offer an alternative or supplement to this.

During the project, they develop and test prototypes that collect information about smoke development, for example regarding temperature and composition. The goal is to be able to distinguish between different types of smoke.

At the end of the project, the students assess which solution is most suitable for practical application and substantiate their choice in a final report.
