De Droomlozen schetst in rake beelden en soundscapes een toekomstscenario waarin slaap door toedoen van een tech-gigant niet meer bestaat.
Auditieve trip
In de krochten van de samenleving woont een man die nog wel slaapt en droomt. Hij kan mensen vertellen wat ze zouden dromen, in een andere wereld. Hij wordt een visionair, onweerstaanbaar voor kunstenaars, maar een bedreiging voor het systeem. Deze beeldende voorstelling is een auditieve trip, waarin de grens tussen mens en technologie, tussen wat je hoort, ziet en denkt steeds onduidelijker en intrigerender wordt.

This future scenario is about a world in which we no longer sleep. A tech giant offers us anti-sleep technology and determines our destiny. Without ever getting tired, we can always stay awake.
Dreaming
Time is won and dreaming is a thing of the past. That makes this future world in balance, because in this waking world people are patient and full of community. Dreams infect our brains with erratic thoughts.
Anti-sleep technology
Yet there is a man in society’s society who has no control over this anti-sleep technology. He still sleeps and dreams, as the only one. This shaman of the new age appears irresistible to artists, writers and musicians, because he can tell people what they would dream if they did. He becomes a visionary for the interwoven society, and with it: a threat to the system.
Ulrike Quade
Ulrike Quade enjoys international fame as a theatre maker who uses handmade human figures as true-to-life actors in her productions. Her creations are a combination of sculpture and dance and performance, language and music. These visual theatre performances are multi-layered, surreal and surprisingly light-hearted.
